RWTH offers Bachelor's courses of study for students looking to become teachers at vocational colleges, Gymnasium, and Gesamtschule. Like the Master of Education, the Bachelor's courses of study consist of three areas: educational sciences plus the subject didactic parts of the two selected specialist subjects. In total, the Bachelor's degree comprises a standard period of study of 6 semesters and 180 credit points, which are distributed among the three areas according on the course model.

Key Components

Students can study one of two degree programs at RWTH in order to train to be a teacher at either:

  • A vocational school or
  • A Gymnasium or Gesamtschule

The Bachelor's degree program has a regular length of study of 6 semesters, comprises 180 credit points, and includes

  • Two subjects that comprise 148 credit points in total
  • Educational sciences modules totaling 22 credit points and
  • Bachelor's thesis in one of the two subjects, worth 10 points
